Vintage Book Fridays: 1950s Romance Goes Tenting

The name of this book makes me smirk, although I suspect the word ‘tenting’ was used in a different context in the 50’s. Also, the clown in the background is kinda creepy…

This book, published by Mills & Boon in 1956, was written by Phyllis Mathewman who was more well-known for her children’s books.

From abebooks “Things were changing in 1956, but you wouldn’t say things were racy yet. Pete, the stable boy is really a famous veterinarian, and he does look like Frank Sinatra. There’s romance…. in a tent.”
